Pablo Royo, from ICARUS research group, participates in measurements of alpha radioactive particles with drones

They measure, for the first time, radioactive alpha particles remotely with drones. The research has been carried out within the framework of the European Project RemoteALPHA, in collaboration with other European research centres.

A team of researchers from the UPC's ICARUS and IONHE research groups has installed, for the first time, an optical system to measure alpha radioactive particles in a drone. The solution makes it possible to assess contaminated areas remotely, before the action of the first intervention teams.
